Thank You and What's Next?

On October 2, 2024, the Elko County Board of Commissioners met to address our request for a liquor license. In the week between the item being tabled and this meeting, we were amazed and humbled by the outpouring of support we received from the community! We cannot thank you enough for that support. As with anything else, there's always more to the story than most people know, and hopefully this will be the end of what had been a pretty ugly chapter for almost a year. If you're interested in watching the meeting, you can see it here: https://elkocounty.granicus.com/player/clip/2781?meta_id=324316

I wanted to reassure the community that we take our responsibility to serve alcohol seriously. People don't come to The Hub to get hammered, and that will not change. We provide family-friendly dining, and like any other food establishment, some people will choose to have an alcoholic beverage with their meal.

In addition, we are excited about the possibilities for upcoming menu items, specials, and ice cream flavors. Our Peach Bourbon Caramel Swirl ice cream and sundaes were a huge hit! We are excited to talk to other ice cream makers at ice cream convention next month, hoping there will be others who make boozy ice cream who are willing to share some insight. Of course, we're always excited to hear your ideas too, and we incorporate those whenever possible!

We also wanted to thank you for casting your votes for the Elko Daily Free Press Reader's Choice Awards! We won't know the results until October 29, but over 100,000 votes were cast, and that's a great thing! There are so many deserving businesses in our community- thank you for taking the time to vote for all of your favorites!

So, what's next? The month of October is packed solid with great events! Lamoille Pumpkin Festival, Skate Night, Movie Night at the Horse Palace, and more! We will also be at The Hub on October 26 before Trunk or Treat. Cheeky Doodles will be there for facepainting! Avoid the lines and get something yummy to eat before heading over to the event. We will also be open at The Hub on Halloween day! The Tasty Truck will be joining us as well, so there will be plenty of delicious food options for the whole family (and maybe a drink special or two for those who aren't heading to Trunk or Treat!)

It's full steam ahead until Nov 8, when I leave for Savannah for the annual ice cream convention called "ConeCon." The week will be full of classes, training, and networking opportunities so we can continue to bring you some of the best desserts in Elko County!
